Countryside Inn

The lovely blue patterns of the Countryside Inn Designer Series Paper are just a joy to create with. I did a paper share with my customers and need to order more of all the papers on sale for another round. We loved them all!

Email me if you would like to participate in the next paper share. But the best way to get all the papers is to join my team and put them in your Stampin’ Up! starter kit for an extra discount.

These are some lovely swap cards from other demonstrators using the Countryside Inn paper. Swapping at Stampin’ Up! events or by mail is just one of the fun perks of being part of Stampin’ Up! Instructions for the bottom pinwheel card are in my private Facebook group for customers and team members. Just put pinwheel in the search box and the video and pdf will pop up. Not in my group? You can contact me or subscribe to my newsletter for the link.

I found another card idea (right) in our Demonstrator Facebook group. I love how she layered vellum with the Countryside Inn paper. I made two additional cards with the same basic layout.

Here’s a video with a few details about these 3 cards with tips for layering with vellum and adhering tiny bows.

I used a bunch of Stampin’ Dimensionals to give the cards a classy look.

I hope you give this fun layout a try! To purchase the papers on sale, visit my SHOP. Or better yet, add them to your STARTER KIT for the best deal and double dip on the discounts.

Happy crafting,

Masking Technique and Sketch

Last month, Stampin’ Up! had a sketch challenge for us. Working from a card sketch is a great way to spark your creativity while using supplies you have on hand.

I used the Cheerful Daisies stamp set and the masking technique for my challenge card. I made my mask out of a sticky all over post it note so I could re-use it. Remember when you are masking to stamp the foreground first, then cover it with the mask, then stamp the background image.

I finished it off with a simple piece of ribbon and sentiment strip. It would be so easy to make multiples of this design, or adapt it to an entirely different stamp set and/or color palette.

I didn’t use any Designer Series Paper on my card, but at 15% off in June, it would be easy to make the circles for the sketch be circles of DSP. Give it a try! And check out my store at any of the product thumbnails below. Or better yet, add your favorite Stampin’ Up! products to your STARTER KIT for the best deal.

Card class for June is coming up soon. Contact me through my website if you would like to attend in person or virtually with a kit.

Norway Incentive Trip

It was wonderful to spend the last week in Norway with 305 other demonstrators. Fewer than 1% of demonstrators have achieved this rare accomplishment and the celebration was unforgettable!

Stampin’ Up! treated us to a fabulous experience, but the best part was being together with demonstrators from all over the world. Maybe the incentive trip is not in your sights right now, but there are plenty of ways to connect with other demonstrators in person or virtually, so why not JOIN our fun community! The starter kit is always a great deal, but there’s even more goodies for you in June!

You even get to double dip on discounts with the starter kit. Take advantage of the Designer Series Paper sale for June and check out the new Online Exclusives that only demonstrators can pre-order.

This is the congrats card that Stampin’ Up! sent us. It took me a while to figure out which stamp set they used to make the typical Norwegian brightly colored folk images. Check the supply list below if you are puzzled as well. I love the Gold Foil ticket behind the circle, and the embossed background too. I think this card will be easy for you to re-create!

One Sheet Wonder Background

I love it when I can maximize my fancy paper to make multiples of cards. It saves both time and money! Here’s a fun series of layouts that I came up with using just one strip of 4″ x 12″ patterned paper to make 3 different cards. Multiply that by 3 and you get 9 cards from a full sheet of 12×12.

I used one 12×4″ strip of each of the gold, silver and copper sheets of the Naturally Gilded Specialty paper from the Stampin’ Up! Online Exclusives since I loved the botanical patterns and they paired so nicely with silhouettes of flowers cut with the Meadow dies (product list at the bottom). And also note the Gold & Silver Trim, also an Online Exclusive.

The first cut you make in your 4″ strip is at 5 – 1/4″. This is the standard mat size. Here I used the Irresistible dies to cut out a circle for stamping on the card base.

For the second card, you will cut off a 4″ piece so you have a square. Cut it again so you can split it apart and stretch it to fit a whole card base. I just eyeballed the cuts with my trimmer, but it’s about 1″ from the top and bottom corners. Now the middle portion is free to stamp a sentiment directly onto the card base. I also lined it with strips of colored cardstock to add a little contrast.

For the third card, you just need to cut the remainder into 3 pieces. You could cut even strips, or like I did at 1/2″, 1″ and 1-1/4″. And that uses up the entire piece of your pretty paper with no waste!

I hope you give my layouts a try, and if you “need” more paper and ribbon etc. check out the links below because Stampin’ Up! is the best! I appreciate your business!

Tropical Leaf Fun Fold Card

Did you see the Tropical Leaf Bundle in the Online Exclusives? It’s not in any Stampin’ Up! catalog, so it’s easy to miss. And it’s easy to play with too, since this is a punch bundle. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee on how long it will be available, so if it looks fun, check out the Online Exclusives today.

For this card I added some Designer Paper and a die cut and a few butterflies. See bottom of post for all the product links.

For this background I used a Vellum Specialty paper. Doesn’t it add some softness to the card?

And this card is a fun fold. Surprise, it’s not a pocket card.

It’s a Diagonal Faux Pocket Card! It’s pretty easy, so here are the measurements for you to try.

Card Base is 4-1/4 x 11, score at 5-1/2 ” Cut off one diagonal from the front .

DSP is 4 x 5-1/4″ cut in half at the diagonal. Adhere to the triangles (one will be flipped around to form the faux pocket). Take care only to add adhesive at the middle to bottom corner or oops, the card is glued shut.

Cardstock mat: 2-3/4 x 4 – be sure not to put adhesive on the top or another oops.

White pieces for front and back to stamp: 2-1/2 x 3-3/4″

Hope you enjoyed these projects and feel inspired to try your own version.

Kim Wilson

Brushed Metallic Backgrounds

Have you checked out the Online Exclusives in the Stampin’ Up! store? You will be happy to see the Brushed Metallic Specialty paper. It is so shiny and fun that photos that do not do it justice.

I made 4 cards using the Dry Brushed Metallic paper as a background. You can see that it is useful with all sorts of stamps and dies as well as different layouts. Links for all the supplies I used are at the bottom.

I hope these projects will inspired you to grab some of that Brushed Metallic paper while it is still available and create some beautiful backgrounds.

Happy New Catalog Year!

The new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog went live this week. It looks like the favorite product Suite right now is Fresh as a Daisy. I also have a fondness for two of the new bundles – Circle Sayings and Crafting with You (see links below).

Here’s a look at the easy #simplestamping notecard that we made at our recent Spring Craft Retreat.

You might notice a new larger circle punch and a really fun new color – Lemon Lolly. The small blending brushes were perfect to color this lovely image.

I actually accomplished some scrapbooking at the retreat. I fell in love with the Alphabet a la Mode dies. They are so easy to place because they are tall and skinny and just really fun.

I hope you will check out the new products in my store. Lots of fun crafting is to be had in my future, but for now I must do some organizing. A catalog transition is always a good time to sort through and organize, especially now that we have a dozen new colors to play with!

Last Chance Stampin’ Up!

It’s always sad when we say goodbye to favorite Stampin’ Up! products. This is my last post before both the Annual and Minicatalogs retire so I’ll try to squeeze in some final projects for you to CASE.

Some of the Designer Series Papers have already sold out, and the Fancy Flora paper above is in low inventory. I love how this paper originated as oil painted canvases. This was a fun fold from my April Card Class using the Something Fancy Bundle. This is the last month to get the bundle discount, but the dies and stamps will continue into the new catalog. (BTW – be sure you are subscribed to my NEWSLETTER to get tutorials for my fun folds.)

I did the same fun fold with the Regency Park Designer Paper. Again, the paper is retiring, but the stamps, dies and punch that I used will go into the next catalog (not at the bundled discount).

The By The Bay Designer Paper and the Seashells Embossing Folder are retiring, and on sale too. The flat pearls and the Seaside Bay stamps and dies will be in the next catalog, but again, not at the bundled discount.

In THIS POST is a FUN FOLD with By the Bay and more ideas for using 6×6 paper.

And lastly, the Tea Boutique Cards & Envelopes as well as the Loveliest Layers Decorative Masks are retiring and on sale in April. I showed how to use the masks in THIS POST.

There’s only a few more days to shop from the Last Chance Sale, or check out the individual products below.

Quick Cards – Memories & More

I’ll be taking my Memories & More cards along to my craft retreat for scrapbooking, but they also make really quick cards when you need a bunch like I do this month. I love the matching Cards & Envelopes, because they are slightly larger than the usual size. That is great for mailing photos or larger items with your cards.

Some big promotions are happening at Stampin’ Up!, so I’m glad I have these cards on hand for my thank you gifts. And there are 2 of each in the pack!

For most of the cards, I just layered the 4×6 and 4×3 cards, added an included sticker and a rhinestone. That’s about 30 seconds per card! Check out the Memories & More section in my store or the links below.

When you have a busy day and still want some crafting time or need some fast cards, keep some Memories & More on hand. And if you are reading this in April, all are discounted too!

If you missed the sale, be sure you are signed up for my newsletter to catch the next one and some more projects too.

Happy crafting,

Kim Wilson
