One Sheet Wonder Background

I love it when I can maximize my fancy paper to make multiples of cards. It saves both time and money! Here’s a fun series of layouts that I came up with using just one strip of 4″ x 12″ patterned paper to make 3 different cards. Multiply that by 3 and you get 9 cards from a full sheet of 12×12.

I used one 12×4″ strip of each of the gold, silver and copper sheets of the Naturally Gilded Specialty paper from the Stampin’ Up! Online Exclusives since I loved the botanical patterns and they paired so nicely with silhouettes of flowers cut with the Meadow dies (product list at the bottom). And also note the Gold & Silver Trim, also an Online Exclusive.

The first cut you make in your 4″ strip is at 5 – 1/4″. This is the standard mat size. Here I used the Irresistible dies to cut out a circle for stamping on the card base.

For the second card, you will cut off a 4″ piece so you have a square. Cut it again so you can split it apart and stretch it to fit a whole card base. I just eyeballed the cuts with my trimmer, but it’s about 1″ from the top and bottom corners. Now the middle portion is free to stamp a sentiment directly onto the card base. I also lined it with strips of colored cardstock to add a little contrast.

For the third card, you just need to cut the remainder into 3 pieces. You could cut even strips, or like I did at 1/2″, 1″ and 1-1/4″. And that uses up the entire piece of your pretty paper with no waste!

I hope you give my layouts a try, and if you “need” more paper and ribbon etc. check out the links below because Stampin’ Up! is the best! I appreciate your business!

Happy crafting,
