5 Paper Saving Tips

Today you will see some ideas for the Favored Flowers Designer Series Paper (free during Stampin’ Up! Sale-a-bration), but the tips are good for any pretty paper.

Tip #1: Use nesting dies to cut out the center of a Designer Paper (DSP) panel. Re-use the cut out piece to mount on top, adding a die cut mat in between with the next largest die in your set. Here I used the Stylish Shapes and Scalloped Contour Dies.

I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop up the top 2 layers. I flipped the outer piece of DSP to the back pattern because it gives good contrast, but you can keep it the same as in the catalog sample below. So, only one piece of 4×5-1/4″ piece is used for each card. Love how these turned out!

This was the card we made in my February Card Class with this Paper Saving Layering Technique and the Deckled Rectangle Dies. Here’s my VIDEO with a few more details.

Tip #2: Use images from the Designer Paper. Many Stampin’ Up! papers have images that can be die cut from the paper, such as this Fancy Flowers bundle. Or, you can always do a bit of fussy cutting – it’s relaxing and fun!

Tip #3: Use the partial images too! Add to the corners or edges for a fun look.

Tip #4: Use your large clear block to save the layout if you are not adhering right away. Sometimes you need a little time to think about it before your creation is exactly how you want it.

Tip #5: Put extra paper pieces in the plastic envelope that came with your dies. Save it in the card case or in paper pack so you don’t lose the little pieces you worked so hard to cut out!

And here are the final cards. I love how they turned out!

Isn’t that large image die cut from the paper beautiful? You can also stamp the image and give it a different look with your own coloring. I did some easy fussy cutting on the words here so I wouldn’t cover over much of the pretty flowers!

One last project with these gorgeous blooms. This time I made a dry embossed background. You can see that I did a fun technique after running through my machine. I rubbed an ink pad over the words – easy and makes them pop! I used the same color Calypso Coral or the Craft White (last card).

Bonus Tip: Embellish your pretty paper with gems, ribbon or add some sparkle to the die cut flowers with Wink of Stella.

Didn’t get any of this gorgeous Favored Flowers Paper? There’s a few more days to grab your FREE during Sale-A-bration at MY STORE. Or contact me afterwards, I will have some for sale and gifting with orders in March.

It’s also the last week to sign up for the great deal on the Demonstrator Starter kit!

Happy crafting,
