Counting Sheep Viewmaster Card

Counting Sheep by Stampin’ Up! seems to be a top favorite Sale-a-bration freebie. There are some amazing stand-alone die sets (not bundled) that work perfectly with these stamps, or with any “critter” stamps that you might have.

First, let’s look at the Sheep dies (another SAB freebie). My favorite is the fence die. It embosses as well as cuts.

Next let’s play with the Basic Borders dies. These are a must- have in your crafting arsenal. Here I used just 2 of the dies to make stitched clouds and a stitched hill.

Next I played with the Picture This dies, making circles for the sheep to play. You could easily use the rectangle dies for a peek at the sheep.

And finally, I got up my courage to try the “Give it a Whirl” dies and make a viewmaster card. It looks a little overwhelming because there are so many dies. But it’s easy to break down into the important parts – the large slotted rectangle, the large wheel and one of the window choices. I used the standard triangle to cut a window after cutting the large slotted rectangle. There is also a heart, rectangle and a circle window options and you can place your window in any orientation along the circle. All the window pieces have a tiny circle so everything lines up together.

Stamping is done on the large wheel cutout. Assemble together loosely with a brad. As you can see, I cut an extra circle (inside of the included scallop circle) to add my Stampin’ Dimensionals. That lets the wheel spin more freely. And I added foam strips along the edges and bottom. There are even arrow die cuts you can use to decorate your card. I typed out the sweet dreams sentiment and used the included label die to cut it out.

And now you can see which Designer Paper I used on all of these cards. Yes, it was Penguin Playmates – another SAB freebie. I had this piece out for a previous project and noticed that the reverse side has the nice tree pattern.

So I hope that gives you an appreciation of some of the stand-alone die sets from the annual catalog and how useful they can be for all sorts of projects. As always, I appreciate it when you click on the photos below and sneak things into your cart if something from my store grabs your attention 🙂

If your wish list contains several of the die sets, consider joining Stampin’ Up! to get them at a discount, along with a FREE BUNDLE (through 9/30/21) and FREE SHIPPING. Then on your first demonstrator order, you can rack up the SAB freebies even faster!

Happy Sale-a-bration and Happy crafting,

Kim Wilson
