October Paper Pumpkin

Here are my tips and alternate projects for the October Paper Pumpkin by Stampin’ Up!   Paper Pumpkin is your creative retreat that comes to your mailbox each month.   This kit is called Sweet as Pie and has some great stamps for the holidays.  It makes 8 cute pie shaped boxes.  It also came with some alternate ideas – a card, a banner and a scrapbook page.  Here is what I made, and I still have lots of pieces left!  You can subscribe to Paper Pumpkin HERE   and I’ll keep you posted with lots of fun projects.

First – the project according to the instructions.

Today’s Tips:

-I did not seal the box yet – I put a piece of the tape liner over the sticky spot so I could seal it later.

-After you cut the ends of the pom pom, before removing the guide, I tied another knot around to secure it tighter.

-Don’t be afraid to trim – the pom pom looks better a bit smaller.

-Don’t you love the new 3M adhesive dots included!!!!

Next I made a simple card with the extra feather pieces.  I cut off the fold from the label sticker and put it under the sentiment.  I just added the Crushed Curry cardstock to the kit elements.  I used the Happy Thanksgiving stamp on the inside.

Next I sacrificed one of my pie boxes to make some more alternate projects.  All of the following were made from one box and I had a few bits of the kraft paper left.  I added some leftover bits from previous Paper Pumpkin kits as well – the sequins from September and the silver stars from July.  The only additional supplies were some Old Olive Cardstock to match the ink spot included and a couple new embossing folders from the Holiday Catalog.

This card uses the sentiment from last year’s November kit – Noel.  I probably should have used some of my leftover star garland from that kit as well.  It was my all time favorite.  You won’t want to miss this year’s kit – I’m sure it will be awesome too.

Finally, I used a strip left from the pie box on this mini coffee cup.  The top piece was cut with the Starburst Framelits.  I used a piece of straw from the June kit pinwheels!  I’m reminding you one more time – make sure your Paper Pumpkin subscription is active!  It makes a great gift too.  You can purchase 1,3,6 and 12 month subscriptions from my website here.   Prepaid subscriptions count towards hostess benefits too!
