Heartfelt Hexagon Cards

The Heartfelt Hexagon bundle was released early by Stampin’ Up! just for World Card Making Day. What a fun and versatile stamp set and punch! I just may have made a few cards with it….

The Glorious Gingham Designer Series paper was perfect for these #simplestamping cards. These easy layouts make multiples a snap. In fact, the second one I used as a swap card for the demonstrator event I recently attended.

I recreated the card from the World Card Making Day event. I love how you can use the punch to make larger (and smaller) shapes.

The Delightful Floral Designer Series Paper made a delightful bay window card. Do you like fun folds? Here’s another!

This double gate fold card is just so elegant!

Add a 1-1-4″ score line and 1 inch strips of Designer Paper to a note card for a really easy fun fold.

And here are 2 more easy layouts (swaps) that feature Designer Series Paper. Check out the supply list below, especially on FREE SHIPPING DAYS. OCTOBER 9-11, 2023.

PSST – If you missed it, the Starter Kit special all month is really the better deal. Check it out HERE.

Halloween Cards and Hershey Treats

You may have notice that Stampin’ Up! has had a hard time keeping some of the fall products in stock. Right now the Glow in the Dark Paper is back!!! So I’m sharing a fun project that I CASED from a fellow demonstrator.

It’s a little blurry because I took the photo in the dark! Yes, this paper really glows and isn’t it cool die cut with Alphabet a la mode? (Supply list posted at the end).

Inside the coffin (made with the Nested Essentials dies), I fussy cut a little dancing skeleton from the THEM BONES Designer Paper. To make the hinged coffin, just fold a piece of Basic Black Cardstock and be sure the fold is inside the top cutting edge when you die cut.

Here are a couple easy cards also made with the THEM BONES Designer Paper. Again, I fussy cut a little skeleton for the spotlight or you can use the Bag of Bones bundle.

Still using the Them Bones paper as a background, I added in the Pick of the Patch Bundle with a cute jack-o-lantern. The pumpkins and other images can be used throughout the fall.

And last, why not a stack of pumpkins to cover a treat. I used copy paper (5-1/2″ square) to cover the Hershey bar, but the THEM BONES Designer paper would have been even better if I had purchased enough of it!

Hope you have some fun ideas for Halloween crafting and grab that Glow in the Dark paper before it’s gone again. The Glow in the Dark bats and ghosts are gone for good, but you can die cut your own with the Bag of Bones bundle and the Tricks & Treat Bundle.

NOTE: IF YOU ARE READING THIS and the Glow in the Dark paper has sold out, I ordered some extra so I can give a couple sheets as a thank you gift for October ONLINE ORDERS.

And if you want to be that person that gets first chance on ordering with access to the inventory list so you never miss out…..why not JOIN MY TEAM during this special 35th anniversary starter kit sale.

Papers for Fall Crafting

While we are waiting for the All About Autumn Designer Series Paper to come back in stock (just another week or so), let’s explore some other papers that are perfect for fall.

I tried them all and came up with some fun cards that are easy to CASE.

For the above cards I used the Inked Botanicals Designer Paper and the Autumn Leaves Bundle. A piece of vellum on the second card adds some interest along with my favorite Linen Thread. See links below. And check out the previous post for more cards using this paper.

The Dry Brushed Metallic Paper from Online Exclusives is very similar to the Oxidized Copper paper that is out of stock. Just a few rectangles plus the die cut dots from the Autumn Leaves bundle make a great background for the maple leaf. Three Brushed Metallic Dots add even more interest if the Speckled Dots are still out of stock. See links below.

Here are a couple bonus projects that I made earlier this year when this paper was introduced. It works pretty well with another two bundles on my product list below. I love the sunset look.

Above is a fun fold that I made with the Naturally Gilded paper and the Autumn Leaves bundle. Card Base is 4-1/4 x 5-1/2″. Mini card is 11 x 2-1/2″ score at 5-1/2″ mounted on top. 2 pieces Very Vanilla are 2-1/4 x 5-1/2 and the 2 pieces DSP are 1 x 5-1/4 . My video is HERE.

The Earthen Elegance Designer Paper also has the perfect colors for fall. For this card I stamped off a Gray Granite background with the maple leave and then repeated it in Copper Clay for the focal point.

I hope these projects inspire your fall crafting this week. If you would like to get a great discount on Stampin’ Up! products, there’s a starter kit special coming October 3 – contact me for details.

3 ways to Dress Up a Simple Card

Sometimes an easy layout needs a little punch. Here are three ideas for you to add a little extra care without a lot of work.

  1. Add Stampin’ Dimensionals
The 2nd and 3rd cards add some emphasis with Dimensionals. I could also have popped up the whole center panel of the first card too!

2. Add some ribbon or bling

There are so many fun things to do with your Stampin’ Up! ribbon – I love unraveling it!

3. Add dry embossed lines (use Simply Scored or your Paper Trimmer)

Ccan you see the 3 embossed lines above and below the designer paper?

If you want to see videos on how to do these techniques, sign up for MY NEWSLETTER. I’ll be talking more about them in the next issue and there’s also a free gift for signing up!

World Card Making Day – FREE EVENT

World Card Making Day happens once a year and Stampin’ Up! pulls out all the stops to celebrate on October 7th 2023. This is the ONE event each year that is FREE for EVERYONE. So pull up a seat and watch, or stamp along with the presenters from 2-5pm MT (4-7PM EASTERN).

You will see three unique cards created and get a peek at some upcoming products for next year. Get together with a friend to watch. Or, if you can’t make it live, watch the replay!

HERE is where to register to get an email reminder.

If you don’t register, be sure to add the date and time to your calendar and head over to the Stampin’ Up! website and click WATCH EVENT. The replay is available there as well, starting the day after the event.

You can stamp along with the presentation using whatever supplies you have at home. But in case you want to make them exactly, lol, here is the supply list. Clickable links to everything are at the bottom of this post.

In case you want to have everything ready to go, above is the measurement list. The actual card photos will be available about a week before the event.

TIP: I would only cut the larger pieces to begin with. I suspect that many of the small pieces will be punched or die cut. I’m lazy and would rather use scraps for that!

I highly recommend the Heartfelt Hexagon bundle – a new release from an upcoming catalog available now for World Card Making Day. Mine is coming soon and I can’t wait to play with it.

In fact, my sweet friend Lyssa has created this easy but stunning set of 8 cards to make with the new bundle. If you purchase Heartfelt Hexagon from my website shop, I will be happy to mail you the instructions. You might also want to grab some Boho Blue Cardstock, ribbon and ink. Or try the cards in another color!

I hope you will enjoy this special gift from me and the World Card Making Day event by Stampin’ Up!

Happy crafting,

Autumn Leaves

The All About Autumn Suite by Stampin’ Up! has been crazy popular. The paper has sold out twice, and the ribbon and embellishments are unorderable as well. But good news – I have some great substitutes ideas in the product list at the bottom of this post. And more good news – the stamp and die bundle are still available and I’ll show you today a card to make just with the bundle.

I tend towards Very Vanilla instead of White during the Fall season. Here I layer a dry embossed panel of Vanilla onto a Card Base of Thick Very Vanilla. I love the new Distressed Tile Embossing Folder!

My leaves were die cut from another piece of Thick Very Vanilla Cardstock, this time with several blended ink colors. To add a little more interest to the leaves, I spritzed with water to give some spotting. Dry with your heat tool before die cutting.

Here’s a tip for getting your leaves into a reasonable wreath shape – a little harder than you might think. Die cut 2 circles to make a paper wreath. I glued the leaves to the top and the leaf vein twigs to the bottom and just added my wreath to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

If you were lucky enough to get the Copper and Natural Ribbon pack, you can pull the perpendicular (light) thread to get a raveled look. Or unravel completely and make some bows from the many threads. If you can’t get a hold of this ribbon yet – this tip works for many Stampin’ Up! ribbons. Or you can just use Linen Thread – my all time favorite Stampin’ Up! trim.

I hope these tips have been useful for you. Check out the thumbnails below for the products used and some great substitutes if you find something from this All About Autumn Suite is unavailable at the moment.

Fall Card Making

The new Stampin’ Up! Mini Catalog went live today! I hope you love the new things as much as I do. I’m looking ahead to some cooler weather and fall colors.

Pick of the Patch and Rustic Crate are some new bundles. Pair them with some of the new embossing folders and designer papers in the new catalog. Links to all the products I used are below. If something is out of stock, it should be back soon. Subscribe to my newsletter to keep up with all the Stampin’ Up! news.

This is an easy layout for you to CASE (copy and share everything). Try it with some Christmas stamps or flowers. I love the Countryside Inn Dies as the background and the texture from the Distressed Tile 3D Embossing Folder.

I didn’t have any green Fall paper, so I found this piece from Let’s Go Fishing. Doesn’t it look great die cut with the new Deckled Circle Dies?

While you are at MY SHOP, be sure to check out Online Exclusives for some new goodies!

Back to School Cards

Are you doing the happy dance? I don’t have any kids returning to school, but I wanted to share these cards with you. You can use the ideas to scrapbook back to school photos also!

I used the Bird’s Eye View stamp set to make this card duo. For the first one, I made a background of stamped birds. For the second one I used the Masterfully Made Designer Series Paper – it looks just like a school project!

For both cards, I added a new bundle (stamps and punch) that comes out September 6. It’s called Curved Occasions so you can add that to the search bar in MY STORE after that date.

I added some colorful letters and numbers cut with the Alphabet a la mode dies. The books and bird were colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers. Links to all the products are at the end of this post.

This is a spinner card! I added a cardstock circle and layered dimensionals to the back of the bird. Just punch the curve in the Designer Paper and pop it up so the spinner can move on the card.

Swaps are one of the fun parts of any Stampin’ Up! demonstrator event. Look at this dude card with the sunglasses! It uses the faux shutter technique. And the bookmark card is so cute. You can also make a longer bookmark by stacking lots of the books together.

The center of the first card flips up and the second one features a corner bookmark.

Surprise!

And above are a couple more swaps from a previous demonstrator event. Do you agree that the Bird’s Eye View stamp set is a must-have for creative cuteness?

We had a blast at #stampinupbackstage last week. Connecting with new and old friends is even better than swaps! If you would like to join us at a future event, why not JOIN THE FUN.

Fresh As a Daisy Cards

I can’t stop using the Fresh as a Daisy Designer Series Paper! We used it in the June card class:

And then I whipped up a few extra cards last month by cutting the sheet with all the separate sections:

This month I had a couple more ideas for my leftover bits:

I had a bunch of Pebbled Path die cut squares left from the 3rd class card above. So why not cut one in half and use it to mat the sentiment?

Perfect with 2 layers of the Daisy Paper and some die cut daisies.

And this section of the Daisy Paper was just begging for an old truck to drive through the scene!

Tip: I stamped the truck outline in Pebbled Path and stamped off first with Boho Blue for the inside. The deckled Rectangle outline was leftover from another previous class!

All supplies can be found at the photo links below and don’t forget the KIT SALE too!

Kim Wilson
