Magnolia Box in a Bag

I’m heading on the Stampin’ Up! Incentive trip, but I promised instructions for my  Magnolia Lane Box in a Bag – #loveitchopit style.   I found instructions online for both larger and smaller purses.  But I wanted regular cards to fit inside, yet saving paper by using 4″ pieces.  So I figured it out myself!  (See earlier posts for the cards).

Measurements:

Designer Series Paper (DSP):  4 x 12″ and 4 x 6″ – adhere together with Tear & Tape to make a long strip.  Thus you can get 2 bags out of one 12×12 sheet.

Box for the Purse Base – Basic Black cardstock:  7-1/2 x 4″, score at 3/4″ all around, snip in 4 spots and adhere corners to form box.

Edging for top of purse – 2 strips at 11″ x 1/2″

Handles: 2 strips at 11″ x 1″

Instructions:

Place Tear & Tape along the bottom of the DSP strip and one edge.  Remove backing a little at a time and add to the outside  edge of the box, moving carefully around.  Give a little pinch when you reach a corner.   Join together when you meet the other end of the DSP.

Add edging to top with Tear n Tape, again a little at a time.

Round edges of handles with the Detailed Trio Punch.  Then fold in half and adhere together except at the very ends.  Use bone folder to  work the handles so they curve the right way.  Attach with a couple of Dimensionals to top of bag, since attachment point will be slightly curved.   Add Petal Pink Rhinestone Gems to embellish the purse.

Make a flower from the Magnolia Lane dies, curl with bone folder and add a Faceted Gem center.

The box (bottom of purse) looked like this before attaching corners together:

The handles look like this before adhering.  IMPORTANT:  Use liquid glue OR Tear & Tape in the fold and 2 stacked dimensionals to adhere to the purse.  (The Tear & Tape in the photo below did not hold because of the curve).

There is no end of creative possibilities with this product suite. Check them out using the thumbnail photos at the end of this post.   If you don’t have the Magnolia Lane suite, I sure would appreciate a visit to my store.  Thanks in advance for your purchase! My CardClass pdfs and a handmade card will come your way as my thank you gift when I return.
