CRAFTDOC

As some of my readers know, it’s difficult to predict what will sell at a craft fair.   Even from day to day at the same fair, or year to year, the popularity of different items may change.  Our church is sending a team to Japan this fall to visit our partner church near Tokyo.  They will be participating in a community craft fair and I’d like to send a few items along with them.

These journals (upper left) would be both easy to make, and for the team to pack in their luggage.   The Japanese symbols that I embossed in gold on the front mean “faith in God”.  I think the sentiment in English is a good testimony to our beliefs, since only about 1% of Japanese are Christian.

I will be featuring the “Artistically Asian” stamp set at my next class, so surrounding the journals are some cards I also made using this beautiful set.  More about the cards in a future post.

I thought it might be nice to send along a few Christmas cards.  I have no idea if the Christians in Japan send cards at the holidays, but the “Night in Bethlehem” stamp set has some nice images of the Christmas story.  I used the popular 3D eclipse technique on this card – see this post for a tutorial on the eclipse technique.

inside and envelopes:

Since there is not much time left before the team leaves, I thought I would use some of my retired samples that are already made.  So I have gathered up all my extra cards and have 4 boxes full!  I’m going to put some in card sleeves with envelopes to send along to Japan.  But there are still plenty left to give-away for my 19th Anniversary as a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator.  See this post for details on the give-away and what my stash of cards looked like before I started organizing them.

And finally, what is a craft fair without treat holders?  Here are a few that I made with the “Seasonal Chums” stamp set and matching framelit dies.  Isn’t it fun how there is a front and a back included on each stamp?

I think the last one (in 2×8″ cellophane bags) would be easiest to pack for the trip.  But I have no idea what American candy would be considered a treat in Japan.  Certainly not my Starbursts leftover from last Halloween!
