Starburst Tips

I had to try the gorgeous starbursts that everyone is making on splitcoaststampers.  They were invented by shadow mill using the 2 SU tag punches – Instructions here

Here are some tips that I hope will be helpful.  You need to glue down the little tag frames using 2-way glue.  Since my glue was a little old and not sticking well, I decided to spray adhesive the whole front and then attach to another piece of cardstock (Night of Navy) and trim.  Now there is no chance of my starburst coming apart.  Since I used vellum for the petals, the back of the starburst still looks great.  Another tip – try using some patterned vellum.  I had one piece left from when SU used to carry it.  I’m not sure if you will be able to see it in the photo, but it looks really nice.  To make your own patterned vellum, use a background stamp or jumbo wheel and stamp in white craft or stazOn ink.  Let dry if you used craft ink.  For the center of my starburst I used the snow blossom punch and an ice rhinestone brad.  For even more texture I added a background of embossed cuttlebug snowflakes and some grosgrain ribbon.starburst.jpg

Wow, what a beautiful card I love it :D! I think I missed it, but I will ask anyways…what did you use to outline the vellum?? Actually, I am sure I missed it just because it is the kind of week I have been having!

The outline is frames made from punching the tag punches. The directions are above if you click on “here”.

    That is beautiful!
